The Opera Burlesque returns to
Edinburgh Festival 2007!

Ali McGregor is yet again joined by Jacqueline Tate and Catherine Friel as they return to Edinburgh after a sell-out mini season in the Spiegeltent in '06. This time they are in town for a whole week in the beautiful Debating Hall of The Gilded Balloon.

Crossing neatly between (the) old and new school is the Opera Burlesque - a trio of classically trained singers with serious reputations, who like to do an odd runner from traditional fare and delve into the subterranean world of cabaret, vaudeville and heavy metal..' The Melbourne Age 26/11/05

The Gilded Balloon Teviot - Debating Hall,

Melbourne '07

Three of Australia’s hottest young opera stars are tightening their corsets and warming up their voices, as The Opera Burlesque prepares for their Melbourne International Comedy Festival debut!

Ali McGregor, Antoinette Halloran and Dimity Shepherd are joined again by Jason Bunn and Ben Winkleman as they climb down from their gilded opera box to writhe about in the Athenaeum II, Comedy Club in the historic Athenaeum Theatre in Collins Street, Melbourne. From Puccini to ACDC and back again, The Opera Burlesque embraces the high tragedy, unrequited desire and opulence of opera while gazing behind the facade to discover the cheeky muse that is kabaret.
